MSTCA New England Clinic Registration Deadline March 16th

The MSTCA’s New England Track & Field Clinic, sponsored by HOKA, will be held on the weekend of March 17th - 18th at the Boston Marriott Burlington. The deadline to register is Thursday, March 16th @ 9 PM. The 2023 MSTCA Clinic offers some of the best clinicians available in our sport. Please check out the list below. Renaldo Nehemiah

Renaldo Nehemiah is an incredibly accomplished athlete. He holds a whopping 13 world records, including being the first athlete to ever break the 13-second barrier in the 110m hurdles, and held the world #1 rank for four years straight. He played wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers from 1982-1985, where he had 43 passes for 754 yards, a 17.5 average, and four touchdowns. He was also Track and Field News’ “High School Athlete of the Year” in 1977, won three NCAA Championships for the University of Maryland, and won gold medals in the Pan Am and IAAF competitions in 1979. Renaldo Nehemiah truly is a remarkable athlete and will help teach the basics of Hurdling to our coaches at this years clinic.

Tony Holler

Tony Holler is an outstanding track coach at Plainfield North High School in Illinois, with an exemplary track record. During his tenure, he has won three state Track Championships, and coached Marcellus Moore, who became the fastest athlete in Illinois history in 2018. In addition to his successful career in coaching, he is also a member of the Illinois Track & Field Hall of Fame and Co-director of the Track/Football Consortium, and is the creator of the revolutionary "Feed the Cats" Sprint Program in 1999. His book, “Tired is the Enemy: The Evolution of a High School Coach and His Revolutionary Approach” is set to be released in 2023.

Dan Iverson

Dan Iverson is another accomplished track and field coach, having served as the Naperville North HS Girls XC coach for 29 years, and the girls’ head coach for track and field for 15 years. During his tenure, he has won 10 XC State Championships, 1 T&F State Championship, and 23 total trophies (top three). He has also made 9 appearances at Nike Cross Nationals, with two runner-up finishes and four top four finishes. Dan is also a featured clinician at Jay Johnson's BRC Clinic Additional Speakers. Coach Iverson has had tremendous success in his coaching career, and he continues to make an impact as a High School Distance Coach.

Mike Bower- Shot Put

Mike Bower has been the track coach at Newton North High School for 25 years. During this time, he has served as the boys and girls Throws Coach. Mike's coaching experience includes working with multiple Bay State League, Division 1, and All state champions. Additionally, he has coached multiple New England and National Champions.

Graham Eaton- Sprints & Drills

Graham Eaton has been coaching Sprints and Hurdles at Triton High School for 11 years. His success has been remarkable, his athletes have accomplished 25+ school records, and he has also privately coached the boys MA state record holder in 110 hurdles (13.82). He also runs Eaton Speed Performance and specializes in soccer speed and hurdles training.

Keith- McDermott- Long Jump

Keith McDermott has impressive accomplishments as an athlete and coach! He was two New England collegiate long jump champion while at Springfield College. Keith has had great success coaching the Long and Triple jumpers at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham. He is the former Director of the Reggie Lewis Center and was a previous winner of the MSTCA Distinguished Service Award.

Paul McGovern- Injury Treatment & Prevention

A former Olympic Trials Marathon Qualifier and Fitchburg State Record Holder 5 & 10K. Paul is a Certified Massage Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant. He is the former coach of the Merrimack Valley Striders and Trainer at St John's Prep. He is the American Record Holder of the Newburyport 10 Mile Road Race (48:23)

Mike Kinney- Javelin

Mike Kinney has 22 years of coaching experience and 12 years as head coach at Wilmington High School! His javelin athletes have certainly achieved great accomplishments, including 4 Divisional champs, 11 All State qualifiers, 1 All-State Champ, 4 New England qualifiers, and the MA All-State Javelin Relay record of 504 ft, as well as 6 javelin relay championships at the Division 3 or 4 MSTCA relays.

Mark Hathaway- Pole Vault

Coach Hathaway has been coaching pole vault at Andover HS since 2009 and has earned 56 D1/Class A top 8 medals in that time. Moreover, he has coached an All-State Champ and 6 D1 pole vault champs, and his athletes have achieved both the former boys indoor and outdoor pole vault state records. In addition to his success in pole vault, Mark has also coached 23 D1 and 7 All-State Champs outside of pole vault in the sprints and jumps.

Mark Strawderman - Pole Vault

Mark Strawderman is the current General Manager at M-F Athletic company. He is a former Chariho High School and the University of Rhode Island Pole Vaulter. At Chariho High School he was 2 X State Rhode Island Pole Vault Champion and State Record holder. At URI. he was multiple time New England Pole Vault Champion, 4 x IC4A Champion, 2 x Olympic Trials Qualifier, and 3 x Division 1 All American.

Holly Thompson - High Jump

She was a 6 time All-American High Jump athlete with a lifetime personal record of 6’ 4 1/4” (1.97m). Thompson competed at Florida State University in 1991, and competed in the High Jump, 200m and 400m events. She also competed in three Olympic trials for the High Jump. In addition to her collegiate and Olympic accomplishments, Thompson was a Florida State Champion in the High Jump with a mark of 6’ 1 1/4”, and the 800m with a time of 2:10. She was also awarded Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 1987, and competed for Mazda and Nike International track club.

Doug Lang - PV Certification

Coach Lang is a graduate fromTufts University and have been a pole vault coach at Westborough High School since 1998. In 2000, he started Patriot Pole Vault Club in order to help anyone who wants to conquer their fear of gravity and become a championship pole vaulter. He is passionate about the sport and believes that with the right technique and attitude, anyone can become a successful pole vaulter. He is always happy to help anyone on their quest to reach their pole vaulting goals. He has Coached State Champions from all around New England Coach Lang will be teaching the Pole Vault Certification Course at the New England Track and Field Clinic.

Melissa Lodge - Nutrition & Women’s Health

Melissa is an elite runner who ran at the DI level for Bryant + Syracuse where she ran impressive PRs of 4:30 in the 1500m and 16:34 in the 5000m. She graduated from Syracuse University with her Masters in Exercise Science and completed her thesis on the topic of the Female Athlete Triad and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. She is currently working on her PHD at the University of Rhode Island in Health Science.

Harvey Glance- 200m & 400m

A former world record-holding sprinter and a gold medalist in the 1976 Olympics, will be attending this year MSTCA Clinic. Glance, the Former head men’s track coach at the University of Alabama who is considered a strong motivational speaker, will share his expertise in the sprints and relays. A 16-time All-American and three-time Olympian, Glance held world records at both 100 meters and 100 yards and won a gold medal in the 4x100 relay in the Montreal Games.

Kristen Fleagle- Mental Health

An assistant coach at Boston University and a sports psychologist counselor with over 250 clinical hours of experience. Sport Psychology is about gaining the mental edge in sport and performance through use of reflection, awareness, and growth through using various mental skills. Skills she will focus on are: Diaphragmatic Breathing, Imagery, and Mindfulness Practice.

Hoka Presents: Dr. Benjamin Saviet - Injury Prevention and the Physician/Athlete/Coach Relationship”

As a dual board- certified foot and ankle surgeon specializing in the care of a variety of feet and ankle problems, Dr. Benjamin Saviet, DPM, has a passion for helping patients return to the activities they love. Dr. Saviet is proud to be providing skilled treatment services, surgical and non-surgical, at Central Massachusetts Podiatry to residents living in and around Worcester, and Westborough, Massachusetts. Dr. Saviet has a lifelong connection to New England and in particular, Central Massachusetts. He grew up in Sutton, Massachusetts and attended Saint John's High School. While at St. John's, he developed his passion for athletics and running. He was awarded his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Providence College where he also was a member of their NCAA Division I cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams. Following Providence College, Ben received a Master of Science in Biology at UMass-Lowell while utilizing his remaining track eligibility, specializing in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Dr. Saviet then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, IL. He completed his reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts, one of the premier residency programs in the country at that time.

Coaches who included registration for the meet on the Indoor T/F Single Payment form will be receiving an email this week to complete their registration.
