Robert Delisle

West Springfield

This WMASS icon enters the Hall after a distinguished career that began in 1969. Bob’s journey to the MSTCA elite has included administrative positions at West Springfield and Southwick- Tolland High Schools, and an incredible amount of committee chairmanships and director positions with the WMTFOA and MIAA, among others. Mr. Delisle’s coaching resume is noteworthy. His West Springfield cross country teams won over 110 meets and Bob’s track success included eight Pioneer Valley League titles, six runner-up finishes in the Division 1 WMASS meet, and a coveted WMASS crown in 1986. Additionally, there were hundreds of medalists and a New England champ in the hurdles among his athletes. Bob’s numerous credentials also include election to the WMASS Cross Country Hall of Fame, one of the founding fathers of the WMASS Indoor League, Knights of Columbus Meet Director, State Cross Country Meet Director, WMASS Cross Country, Track, and Officials Associations,the MIAA Distinguished Service Award in 2003, and the current MIAA representative to the New England Association of Secondary School Principals. Coach Delisle is most appreciative of the support for his candidacy from Micheal Budd, and fellow Hall of Famer Bill Kane, Ernie Goff, and Dick Atkinson. Bill states that, “there can be no other nominee as distinguished as Bob.”, and Ernie provided the ultimate compliment when he wrote, “Bob is one of the architects of WMASS track and cross country.
