Steve Levine

Tewksbury

Born in Dorchester and later relocated to Natick, the home for Redman, Steve continued his education at UMASS, when they were also known as the Redman. He began his teaching in Tewksbury MA, the home of the still Tewksbury Redman, which makes him an honest to goodness honorary Redman for life, and he is proud of the distinction and honor. Steve has taught in the Tewksbury Public School system for 35 years, the last 22 years at the high school, where he’s coached for 91 consecutive seasons in boys soccer and outdoor track. Nominated by fellow Hall of Famer Bob MacDougall, Coach Levine’s overall track record shows over 250 wins and undefeated seasons. A two time Boston Globe Coach of the Year, Steve has been voted the MVC Coach of the Year an incredible 19 times. Perhaps his most impressive accomplishment is the 7 relay championships won by the Redmen, along with 9 EMASS or State crowns. More importantly, he is an “institution” at Tewksbury High, standing for his hard work and integrity, which he insists upon from his athletes. His former athletes respect him so much that several hundred of them packed the gym to hold a “Steve Levine Night” in his honor at the school. Former Tewksbury A.D. Robert Aykward stated, “Steve isa man of character, he could write a book on it,”, and concluded his letter of recommendation by referring to Coach Levine as “a precious gem of a teacher, coach, and man.” steve repeatedly gives credit to his fellow coaches and student athletes and is especially appreciative of the guidance from his late high school coach Bob Whelen and colleague Bill Piscione. Most of all, he is proud of and thankful to his wife of 28 years, Karen, and three children.
