Bill Snow

Wayland High School

This year’s honoree in the popular Veteran’s Division is a Wayland High School legend. Beginning in the early 1970’s as a physical education teacher there, Bill carved out a career in the tough Dual County League second to none in winter and spring track. Coach Snow’s tenure at Wayland included the phenomenal total of coaching 104 consecutive seasons (soccer, indoor track, outdoor track). His resume includes 29 years of winter track with 4 state titles and 6 MSTCA relay crowns, and 26 years of spring track with numerous honors and a Class D title. Additionally, there were 16 DCL championships, 11 undefeated seasons, and a 62 consecutive DCL winning streak. Perhaps his most well known athlete was the great half miler Jon Mann. Former Athletic Director Rick Moyer stated, “Not only did I marvel at his coaching success, but he gave the same level of professionalism dedication, and expertise from his first year to his last year.” Quite a tribute to this year’s Veterans Division recipient.
