Ed Ryan

Marshfield High School

A Marshfield High School graduate and former record holder there in the two mile, Ed began his storied coaching career at his alma mater in 1991. Since then his teams, mostly girls, have won an astounding total of over 330 meets! His girls have amassed numerous League and EMASS Championships and he is a two time former MSTCA Coach of the Year and a Boston Globe Coach of the year. Additionally, he has coached individual state champs, all-state champs, NE champs, a national champion, and several All-Americans. Additionally, his teams also have been regularly recognized with the MIAA Gold Medal Academic Achievement Award. Among Coach Ryan’s many successful athletes were the outstanding members of the Hubbard family, all MSTCA standouts, and with Ed’s permission they established and continue to fund the “Edward J. Ryan Track and Field Scholarship” at Marshfield High. As Principal Robert Keuther stated, “He is driven by the pursuit of respect and excellence and these traits set him apart from the crowd.”
