Geoff Hennessy

North Quincy High School

The long time North Quincy coach sports an impressive array of credentials for the city of Quincy. A NQHS graduate himself, where he captained the Red Raiders in the early 70’s, Geoff also is the coach and administrator of the renowned Quincy Track Club. A key assistant on the dominant North Quincy girl’s teams of the early 80’s, Geoff took over his alma mater in 1988 and has coached there ever since. Coach Hennessy has also recently assumed leadership of the Quincy High team and continues to oversee the now combined QNQ program year round. Overall, his girls have won over 340 meets in various leagues; he has coached numerous Boston Globe and Herald all-scholastics, and is a former Globe and MSTCA Coach of the Year. His impact on the city of Quincy is enormous, as he spent years in a successful effort to rally the city to fund a state-of-the art track for team and community use. It is there downtown at the Faxon Track that a flagpole and a plaque honor his efforts. As City Solicitor James Timmons stated, “his record and longevity bespeak of a commitment to high school athletes that goes well beyond wins and losses.”
