A 22+ foot long jumper, a 44+ foot triple jumper, a low 40.’s 330 low hurdler, a low 50s. 440 runner, and a 160+ javelin thrower made Greg a force to be reckoned with in any track meet. Coach Magardo also fondly remembers Greg having a great work ethic, as a team player and a great athlete and person, and more importantly an outstanding student coach. Magardo credits’ Greg with bringing along several quality high jumpers out of Falmouth H.S. in the early 1980’s. As good as Greg’s overall track accomplishments were, it was his high jumping ability that propelled him to the top of the schoolboy charts and beyond. Greg won the Class A Mass high jump competition his sophomore, junior and senior years in both indoor and outdoor. He was the New England indoor and outdoor champ in his senior year. As a high school junior and senior he competed in the prestigious Millrose games at Madison Square Garden and in his senior year placed forth against some of the top high jumpers in the world when he jumped 7’2”.
