Tubbs joins the seven-member inductee class following a stellar career at Boston Latin School where she won six all-state championships, was a four-time time New England Champion, a Dual county League 200-meter champion and a five-time All-Scholastic honoree. Following Boston Latin, Tubbs strengthened her Massachusetts track legacy by winning JU’s first national championship with a 60-meter time of 7.29 in the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships. "Monique's induction into the Massachusetts Hall of Fame is a well deserved honor," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "Long before she became an NCAA champion for JU, she was a high school national champion for Boston Latin. Her high school career is legendary back home. "Monique was the first blue chip athlete to see the potential that existed for JU track and field. Her vision, talent and performances became the spring board for all future successes of this program. I am very proud of all that she has achieved and even prouder to be associated with such a great woman." As a senior, she was named Boston Globe "Runner of the Year" after winning the 55-meter dash at the State Coaches Invitational, the Class A meet (7.02), the All State meet (6.99) and the New England meet (6.96). She was also crowned the National 60-meter dash champion (7.31) and broke a Class A meet record in the 100-meter with a time of 11.6, which stills stand as the state record today.
