Kristen Seabury Till will go down as one of, if not the best, female track athletes ever to run on the Stoneham High School track. Seabury was a 1987 graduate of Stoneham High School, where she excelled in the two mile, mile, and 800 meters. As a junior and senior, she took the Class and All State titles in the mile, and competed in the Cross Country Nationals. She held the state record in the mile until last year and still holds the state record in the 1000 yards. She was named an All Scholastic for her efforts. From there she attended the University of Alabama, where she was a standout for the Crimson Tide. Running mainly in the 1500 meters, Seabury earned All-American status in both 1991and 1992. She currently holds the fourth best mile time in Alabama school history at 4 minutes, 46.87 seconds, and the school’s fifth all time 800 meters time at 2:06.76. In 1990 she took second in the 800 meters at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships. She ran in the Division I Nationals in the 1500 in 1991 and 1992. During and after college, she competed in the Olympic Trials in the 1500 meters. In 1992 and 1996, she reached the semifinals, finishing as high as 10th place in 1996. She ran professionally on the prestigious European Track Circuit. “Everyone loved her,” said former SHS track coach Wayne Fillback. “She had a wonderful personality and was very modest. She was in a class by herself, and you could tell very early on that she was going to be something special.” She resides in Maryland with her husband, Tom, and daughter Madeline, where she works as an administrative assistant for a property management company, and still competes in local road races.
