Randall Scott King is one of Massachusetts’s all-time great long sprinters. A 1984 Medford High School graduate, Randy ran a brilliant 400 meters at the Indoor Championships at BU. In his breakthrough race the senior speedster blasted out of the blocks and won the race in 48.1 seconds, far surpassing anything previously run by a New England high-schooler. A week earlier at the State Coaches Meet, king had equaled the 300-yard record of 31.7 set by Brockton's Mike Sullivan in 1979 In 2006 he was inducted into the Medford High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
