Tiana Riel Wood is a 2004 graduate of Hopkinton High School. As an 8th grader she placed in the 300 Hurdles and triple jump in the State Divisional meet. As a freshman she won her first triple jump state title. As a sophomore she won the state pentathlon, repeated as triple jump champ, and added a state 100m hurdle title to her collection. As a Junior she went on to win her third consecutive Triple Jump title. Her senior year, she thought she would mix it up a little and entered the long jump competition at the State meet. The event was new but the outcome was not! once again winning with a monster jump of 19’5.75” Indoors, she won state championships in the hurdles and 2 in the long jump. Her indoor hurdle time of 8.02 stood as the all-time State record until recently. She was also the best high jumper in the state, winning the Coaches Invitational the only time she entered clearing 5’6”. All of these talents led her to be one of the best multi events in the country. She went on to win the National Indoor pentathlon in New York and competed in the U.S National Jr. heptathlon in 2003. She was also a member of many state and divisional championship relay teams in the 4 X 100, 4 X 200, and 4 X 400. On top of all these individual accomplishments, her team won all 6 outdoor divisional team titles while she was on the team beginning in 7" grade. Hopkinton also won 5 All- State titles in a row outdoors, beginning with her 8' grade team. Here is just a small sample of PR’s in High school. 5-6 1/2 HJ, 19-8 LJ, 33-2 SP, 39-0 TJ, 2:29 800m, and 14.50 in the 100m hurdles.
