Karen Phillips Norwell H.S. Class of 1988. Karen was New Englands’ premier jumper/hurdler of her era – she was honored as the Boston Globe girls track athlete of the year in 1988. Twice she was the All-State and New England Champion in the long jump. She added All-State and New England gold in the 300 hurdles and led her Norwell team to the All-State Team championship in 1988. Twice she was MSTCA Pentathlon Champion, leading Norwell to the team championship in successive years. She long jumped 19’5”, triple jumped over 41’ and ran the 300 hurdles in 43.6.
