New England Track and field Clini

Last weekend, the MSTCA hosted their annual Track Coaches Clinic at the Westford Regency Inn and Conference Center on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15th.

There were 15 clinicians presenting 34 separate sessions covering every event in the Spring Track and Field season. In addition sessions in sports psychology, nutrition and hydration, para athletes, women's distance running with 4 local HS athletes giving honest feedback on challenges they face, and panels on Women in Track & Field and Distance Training/Racing. Doug Lang presented his Pole Vault certification course for both coaches and Track Officials.

Friday evening we honored 28 Coaches of the Year in Outdoor Track (2024), Cross Country (2024) and Indoor Track (2024-25) along with 2 Assistant Coaches of the Year. Matt Griffin and Len Harmon handled the presentation of the awards to the coaches. This was followed by the always popular Coaches Social that was attended by several of the clinicians.

Saturday kicked off with a Continental Breakfast, and we also included a lunch for all attendees. MF Athletics provided cookies at the luncheon in addition to being our title sponsor.

The Run House and Hoka provided shoes and LS Tech Tops for the Clinic Staff as well as gifts for the coaches. Chuck Martin and Brandon Palmer were tireless in all their work behind the scenes. Our MSTCA Interns Kailas Ciotta and Matty George provided all the work assembling the Clinic Program, and were valuable on site as well. Thanks to my Clinic Support Staff of Kevin Black, Steve Czarnecki and Tim Foley who handled speaker introductions, panel moderators and many other tasks too numerous to mention.

Finally, our CFO Jayson Sylvain who handles so many items on our To Do list seemingly effortlessly and making the clinic come together. It truly takes a village.
