MSTCA Officially Ends Regular Season

It is with heavy heart we contact our members today. As we are sure most of you have already heard, Governor Baker, with the assistance of the Mass DOE, Mass Teacher's Association, the Mass Association of School Superintendents, and many other relative educational boards, made the decision to stick with Remote Learning throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. While this may not be a surprise to many, the reality of it for many of our members who are not only coaches but also teachers is heartbreaking for many reasons.

Given this information, it only makes sense for us to cancel the regular MSTCA season. This includes the Divisional State Relay Meets, the State Coaches Meet, the Multis, the Freshman/Sophomore Championship, among others. The MIAA will have a Board of Directors meeting tomorrow afternoon and report out on the status of the MIAA Meets.

Our athletes are hurting as much, if not more than us right now. All we can do is be there for them (remotely) in some form. We suggest emails, videos, social media, etc. Some coaches have even started doing some "Senior Spotlight" posts on social media for the outgoing senior athletes.

There are currently some remote opportunities for your athletes to compete and stay in shape. Feel free to check out the Bay State Running Website at https://baystaterunning.com/ who are hosting some virtual meets (MA, RI, & NH). We try to be supportive of the MSTCA's primary sponsor Marathon Sports and their affiliates. We will be in touch with more information as we receive it.

Feel free to reach out to any of us in the MSTCA cabinet for any guidance or questions you may need or have. We are always here for you, and we are in this together.

Sincerely,

The MSTCA Team
