Do It Clinic A Huge Success!

We would like to thanks the athletes and coaches who attended the 16th annual Do-It Clinic yesterday. We had an inspirational opening to the day with the Keynote Speaker, Rich Kennedy followed by some great instruction by all of our esteemed and legendary clinicians. We gave away hundreds of raffle prizes and had over 200 athletes participate in the event. The best part? Any coach who is an MSTCA member brought their athletes FREE OF CHARGE! Thank you again to all who made the day possible, especially Mr. Lou Tozzi (MSTCA Board of Trustees) and Mr. Fred Doyle (MSTCA Special Events Coordinator).

Do It Clinic Notes:

-About 205 athletes attended - also close to 20 coaches many of whom listened in on a couple of sessions.

-Overall it was a great day …very beneficial to all attendees. Feedback was all very positive.

  • We brought in some college coaches and a few new faces to freshen up the message.

  • Will expand on Injury Treatment & Prevention and maybe add another clinician to cover workouts for injured athletes.

  • Based on your feedback and our own thoughts we think a date change would attract more athletes. Move from the 1st week to Christmas vacation. Will ask Kent to send out a survey to confirm the best date/time.

-The move from 4 sessions to 3 was well received by both athletes and clinicians.

-Heard from at least 2 clinicians that some beginners moved into the intermediate session. Made it difficult to cover what they wanted to cover since the newcomers didn't understand the basics.

-Dave Dickerson (Somerville HS) "I come here every year. One year I had a beginner learn how to hurdle at the clinic and a couple years later he was a State Champ."

-Staff at Reggie did a nice job with the setup. Box lunches vastly improved from prior years.

-RLAC needs a lot of cleaning this week to be ready for the meets next weekend. Pretty sure Matt is aware of everything.

-Lou did a great job with all the printed sheets, signage, raffle prizes and set up organization. Definitely not his first rodeo!

-Nice opportunity to see clinicians in action should we want to add them to the March Coaches Clinic lineup.

Additional thoughts from those attending are more than welcome. Please send an email to mstca.events@gmail.com

Thanks!
