MSTCA Announces Partnership With Wheaton College

Season’s Greetings!

The MSTCA has been hard at work creating an opportunity for high school student-athletes throughout Massachusetts to enjoy a traditional Indoor season.

At this time, we would like to announce a partnership with Wheaton College to host practices and meets at the college’s Haas Center throughout the months of December and January. These events will be open to any student-athlete who resides in Massachusetts, or who attends a Massachusetts high school.

There will be many safety protocols in place in order for the MSTCA to follow the Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) guidelines. Athletes and their chaperones will need to follow all of our directives in order to keep a safe and socially distant environment while inside the facility. Our specific directives will be communicated to all of the participants prior to each of our events this winter.

The MSTCA’s Indoor season always begins with the Winterfest in mid-December, and 2020 will be no different. Registration is now open for our Winterfest which will once again allow athletes to set an early-season base mark in which to build on as the season progresses. Below is our projected Indoor Track & Field meet schedule. As always, we will continue our partnership with Bay State Running to bring you free video coverage of our activated online

The MSTCA will host practice times at the Haas Center which will allow sprinters, hurdlers, distance runners, long and triple jumpers, high jumpers, shot putters, and pole vaulters the opportunity to complete the workout of their choice at an indoor facility. Currently, the MSTCA is able to host high school practices on the following dates:

December 18 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

January 4th 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

January 8th 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

January 11th 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

January 25th 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

For a $25 fee, athletes will be able to register for a 2-hour session. The session will include 30 minutes in the gymnasium for athletes to warm-up, followed by 90 minutes either on the oval (for runners) or in the pit (for jumpers, vaulters, and throwers) to complete their workout. There will be a total of three 2-hour sessions during each practice date. Registration will be limited in order to a) allow all field event participants enough time to complete their workout in their respective pits, and b) remain under the EEA’s 25 person per playing surface limit. Registration for these practice sessions will be completed online, and the sites will be activated very soon.

Please consider following the MSTCA’s Twitter (@MSTCA1) and Instagram (mass_state-track) feeds, as well as Bay State Running’s Twitter (@BayStateRun) and Instagram (baystaterun) feeds as we release additional information.

As always, we will continue to work towards our mission of allowing as many student-athletes as possible from across the Commonwealth to safely train and compete throughout the entire school year. Sincerely, The MSTCA
