Dale Snyder

Hard to believe, but Coach Snyder has led track teams in Wisconsin and Massachusetts for forty-six years! Beloved by the Milton school community, parents, and colleagues, Dale has developed the track program to become the largest participatory teams in the Milton schools. With an outstanding total of over 400 career victories, Dale now enters his second state track coaches Hall of Fame. His twenty years at Milto have included coaching all three girls’ programs and he is a former Boston Globe Coachof the Year in 1996. Perhaps his best known alumni are the All American and Olympian O’Neill twins, Laura and Kate, whose dad stated, “Dale always went beyond what one would expect from a coach.” Coach Snyder’s distance teams have one six Herget Conference titles, including 2008, in cross country, the Baystate Invitational crowns, three EMASS cross country crowns, and the 1996 and 1998 All State Division II Championship. Additionally, his teams have an EMASS Class C outdoor track and runner-up All-State outdoor performance to their credit. This years teams have also been successful in winning the Bay State Conference in cross country, with an undefeated season, and the Herget Division indoor title. But, perhaps Coach Snyder's lasting legacy is the enormous respect he has earned from his athletes, fellow coaches, and administers. His former Athletic Director referred to him as “an AD’s dream”,dueto his tireless dedication and what he tells his athletes - “It’s not always about winning, it’s about participating and that is what track and life are all about.” Dale is married to the lovely Mary Frances Snyder and has our children;Katie, Al, Molly and Gaby.
