Frank Gallagher

Revere High School

This year’s Veteran’s Division inductee spent his entire educational and coaching career at his beloved Revere High School. Frank began his coaching stint at Revere in 1968 and successfully transformed the school into a Greater Boston League and EMSS power during his 30 years, despite the severe change in the city’s cultural socio-economic status. Under Frank’s leadership the Patriots won 5 consecutive G.B.L titles from 1977-1981, won numerous Our Lady of Providence Invitationals, and were consistently near the top in the EMASS divisional meets. Coach Gallagher was nominated for the Hall by the great Dom Finelli, one of the only harriers in history to win a Class Meet, CM title, NE meet and Eastern States Championship. Additionally, numerous letters of support were received to support Frank’s candidacy; included were tributes from Peabody A.D. Phil Sheridan and Revere Administrator Jonathan Mitchell. The author of the book “Revere High School Cross Country: A Proud History”, Coach Gallagher is still active as an official. Currently enjoying retirement by wintering in Florida, Frank is thankful to the Revere High Track community and student-athletes he coached, and especially to Mr. Finelli for spearheading his nomination process.
